What a vote does

Every word on the ballot maps to one trait the engine already measures, so a vote moves a real axis rather than a label. The tallied round becomes a single group profile, and the shelf is scored against that instead of against a seed book.

Why so few words

A word earns its place by splitting the shelf. Anything that describes almost every book, or almost none of them, tells the recommender nothing and is held on the bench until the catalogue can support it. Twelve words are waiting there now.

The vocabulary is fixed on purpose. Free text never reaches the engine - a write-in is read by a person first, and only joins the ballot once the taxonomy has somewhere to put it.
